MANILA, Dec 9 (NNN-PNA) – The U.S. proposed “summit for democracy,” scheduled to be hosted virtually today and tomorrow, is pure hypocrisy, a Philippine columnist, said.
Mauro Gia Samonte, a columnist for the English daily, The Manila Times, said, the summit is U.S.’s “furtive effort to draw the line between those on the side of America” and others, in what geopolitical analysts regard as “a heightening Cold War.”
Samonte said, Washington has no moral authority to discuss democracy, because it failed to restore order in the country.
Under the Biden administration, mass shootings in schools and public gatherings continued, he added.– NNN-PNA
