Covid-19: Belgian PM, ministers quarantine after French PM gets Covid

  BRUSSELS, Nov 24 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo and four of his ministers went into quarantine on Monday after French Prime Minister Jean Castex tested positive for Covid-19, a government statement
said.

  “They will also take PCR tests and will remain in quarantine until the test results come back negative,” the statement said, hours after they attended a meeting with Castex and other senior French officials.

Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo, who received his French counterpart Jean Castex in Brussels on Monday, quarantined himself after the latter’s positive Covid test was announced.

Four other members of the Belgian government, who also participated in a Franco-Belgian meeting on Monday morning on the subject of security, “will also take a PCR test and will remain in quarantine until the result of the test is negative”, -we specified from the same source in a press release.

They are ministers Sophie Wilmès (Foreign Affairs), Ludivine Dedonder (Defense), Annelies Verlinden (Interior) and Vincent Van Quickenborne (Justice).

Alexander De Croo will take a PCR test on Tuesday morning and will have no public activity before receiving the result. It “will remain in quarantine”, it is stressed.

French Prime Minister Jean Castex tested positive Monday evening for Covid-19, his services said.

He had learned in the afternoon, after his trip to Brussels, that one of his daughters, aged 11, had tested positive and had then immediately performed a PCR test.
