KABUL, Nov 20 (NNN-ANA) – Two kidnapped victims have allegedly been killed, in separate abduction incidents, in Afghanistan’s northern Balkh province, multiple sources reported yesterday.
On Thursday, physician, Nader Alemi, a physiographist and neurologist, who was abducted nearly two months ago, in Nawabad area of Mazar-i-Sharif,, capital of Balkh, lost his life in his kidnappers’ clutch, Khaama Press, a local online news agency, reported.
The well-known physician has long been working for the Balkh provincial hospital, the report said.
On Monday, chancellor Mohammad Zarif Anwari, head of Mawlana Private University, was found dead near his house, in Mazar-i-Sharif, after being kidnapped over the weekend in Balkh, according to local sources.
The reports came days after Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesman for the Taliban’s caretaker government, said that, the level of kidnapping has recently declined in the country.
More than 80 kidnappers have been arrested and 12 victims freed, since the Taliban’s takeover in mid-Aug, according to Mujahid.– NNN-ANA
