Explosion Causes Fire In Gas Transmission Line In SW Iran

TEHRAN, Nov 18 (NNN-IRNA) – An explosion took place in Maroon-5 gas transmission line, in Ramshir county, in south-western Iran yesterday.

Deputy Governor of Ramshir County, Jalil Zahiri, told IRNA that the explosion, which was followed by a fire in the pipeline, did not result in casualties of inhabitants of the nearby village of Ramis.

The worn-out condition of the pipeline was the cause of the blast, said Zahiri, adding that, the fire has been contained.

“This is the second explosion in this transmission line in the past month, and it is necessary for the oil company to take necessary measures as soon as possible, to prevent other accidents,” he noted.

The extent of damage to the transmission facilities is not yet known, he added.
