6.4-Magnitude Quake Rocks Coast Of Southern Iran, One Person Killed

TEHRAN, Nov 15 (NNN-IRNA) – An earthquake, with a magnitude of 6.4, shook the Iranian town of Laft, off the coast in the south of the country, yesterday afternoon.

Initial report said one person was killed.

Apart from the victim in Bandar Abbas, so far, no other fatality has been announced, but electricity, telephone and internet services are off in some quake-affected rural areas.

According to the Iranian Seismological Centre, the shock took place at 15:36 p.m. local time (1206 GMT), at a latitude of 26.8 degrees north and a longitude of 55.9 degrees east, and at a depth of 18 km.

Rescue teams are evaluating the damages.– NNN-IRNA
