MINSK, Nov 13 (NNN-TASS) – Two Russian paratroopers, who participated in the exercise in Belarus, died, Belarusian media reported, citing the Russian Ministry of Defence.
Their parachutes failed to function properly, “due to a sudden strong gust of wind” during their jumps, said the report.
They were taken to the local hospital for treatment but died due to heavy injuries.
The Belarusian Ministry of Defence expressed condolences to the Russian side.
According to the Russian Defence Ministry, a 250-man troop came to Belarus yesterday, to participate in a joint tactical exercise, which was part of the response to the inspection of the Russian-Belarusian Union State Forces.
A Russian Il-76 military transport aircraft participated in the exercise.– NNN-TASS
