Zika Cases Rise To 66 In North Indian City

NEW DELHI, Nov 6 (NNN-PTI) – With 30 more cases of the Zika virus, the total number of cases rose to 66, in the city of Kanpur, in India’s northern state of Uttar Pradesh yesterday, media reports said.

The total cases were reported to include 45 males and 21 females.

The first case of the mosquito-borne virus in Kanpur was reported on Oct 23, when an Indian Air Force (IAF) warrant officer, tested positive for the virus.

Thereafter, samples were collected from various pockets in the areas surrounding the local IAF station and sent to a local lab. On testing, 30 of the samples tested positive, said the media reports.– NNN-PTI
