NEW DELHI, Oct 29 (NNN-PTI) – The Indian government has reappointed Shaktikanta Das as the governor of Reserve Bank of India (RBI), India’s central bank, for three more years until Dec, 2024, officials said today.
The order was issued late last night, by the cabinet appointments committee, comprising Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.
Das, previously the economic affairs secretary at the finance ministry, took over as the RBI governor in Dec, 2018.
He is the first RBI governor to get an extension under the incumbent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government.– NNN-PTI
