HANOI, Oct 23 (NNN-VNA) – Vietnam reported 3,985 new COVID-19 cases yesterday, including 3,977 locally transmitted and eight imported, according to the country’s Ministry of Health.
Most of the community cases were detected in southern localities, including 1,205 in Ho Chi Minh City, 471 in Binh Duong province, and 417 in Dong Nai province.
The new infections brought the country’s total tally to 881,522, with 21,543 deaths, the ministry said.
Nationwide, as many as 803,326 COVID-19 patients have so far recovered, up 5,202 from Thursday, while over 70 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered, according to the ministry.
As of yesterday, Vietnam registered a total of 876,788 locally transmitted COVID-19 cases, since the start of the current wave in late Apr, the ministry said.
Meanwhile, the health authority also announced the COVID-19 risk levels of all 63 localities yesterday, which will serve as standard for the implementation of anti-COVID-19 measures.
Among the localities, the Vietnamese capital, Hanoi, was listed as low-risk, and the southern Ho Chi Minh City was among medium-risk zones.– NNN-VNA
