Iran Launches Four Phases Of Major Gas Field

TEHRAN, Iran, March 18 (NNN-ISNA) – Iranian President, Hassan Rouhani, inaugurated four phases of the giant South Pars Gas Field on Sunday, Financial Tribune daily reported.

Iran invested 11 billion U.S. dollars in the development of the four phases, Rouhani said, in the inauguration of Phases 13 and 22-24 of the gas field.

According to the report, each phase has a daily production capacity of 56 million cubic metres of sour gas, 50 million cubic metres of methane, 400 tonnes of sulphur and 75,000 barrels of gas condensate.

Addressing a press conference, on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of the projects, Iranian Petroleum Minister, Bijan Namdar Zanganeh, also said that, Iran will produce over 750 million cubic metres of natural gas from all South Pars phases by March, 2021.

The South Pars/North Dome field is a natural gas condensate field, located in the Gulf. It is the world’s largest gas field shared between Iran and Qatar.

With the new phases now operational, 23 phases of South Pars have come on stream and only Phase 11 remains incomplete.– NNN-ISNA
