TEHRAN, Iran, March 18 (NNN-IRNA) – Iran traded 4.31 million tonnes of non-oil commodities worth 2.24 billion U.S. dollars, with members of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), during the 10-month period to Jan 20, 2019, Eghtesad Online news website reported.
The figures registered 47.31 percent and 27.97 percent increases in weight and value respectively, compared with last year’s corresponding period.
CIS include Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus and Moldova.
Iran’s exports to CIS totalled 2.44 million tonnes worth 1.02 billion U.S. dollars during the period. Iran mainly exported liquefied natural gas, pistachios, apples, tomatoes, and Portland cement to CIS countries.
Iran’s imports stood at 1.87 million tonnes worth 1.22 billion U.S. dollars. Major commodities imported into Iran from CIS nations included nuclear reactors’ parts, barley, field corn, sunflower oil seed and sheep carcasses.
In terms of total trade value, Russia topped the list of CIS countries by trading 1.92 million tonnes worth 1.25 billion U.S. dollars.– NNN-IRNA
