Iran Reports 14,525 New COVID-19 Cases, 5,601,565 In Total

TEHRAN, Oct 2 (NNN-IRNA) – The Iranian health ministry reported yesterday, 14,525 new COVID-19 cases, taking the country’s total infections to 5,601,565.

According to an official briefing, the pandemic has claimed 120,663 lives in the country so far, after 235 new deaths were registered in the past 24 hours.

A total of 5,053,551 people have recovered from the disease or been discharged from hospitals across the country, while 5,841 remain in intensive care units, the ministry said.

By yesterday, 39,418,779 Iranians have received their first doses of COVID-19 vaccines, and 16,408,496 of them have taken two jabs.

The report added that, 32,306,789 tests have so far been carried out across the country.

Earlier yesterday, the Iranian health ministry’s Centre for Statistics and Information Technology Management, announced it had started issuing digital vaccination cards, in Persian and English languages for all citizens.

Some restrictions related to travels, access to educational and sports centres, and professional activities will soon be lifted, for card holders, it said.

Iran has recently been facing a surge of the Delta variant of the virus.– NNN-IRNA
