KUWAIT CITY, Oct 2 (NNN-KUNA) – Kuwait yesterday held a march, to raise public’s awareness about breast cancer, as the country started marking Breast Cancer Awareness Month in Oct.
Themed “Pink Awareness March,” the activities started with a procession of motorbikes carrying the national flag of Kuwait and pink flags, led by pink cars from the Scientific Centre to Kuwait Towers in Kuwait City.
Khaled Al-Saleh, Board Chairman of Cancer Awareness Nation (CAN), highlighted the importance of raising awareness, regarding early detection of cancer, to reduce these serious ailments.
Saleh said in a statement that, CAN will launch several campaigns this month, to continue raising public’s awareness.
“Today (yesterday), we renew our call to our mothers and daughters, to be keen on the periodic examination, which has been proven important in detecting the infection of the tumor at an early stage,” he said.
According to the Kuwait Cancer Control Centre (KCCC), for the year 2017, the number of breast cancer cases among Kuwaiti and non-Kuwaiti women, reached 602, the rate of infection among Kuwaiti women was 37.1 percent, and the rate of incidence among non-Kuwaiti women was 40.2 percent, Saleh noted.– NNN-KUNA
