JERUSALEM, Sept 30 (NNN-PNN) – Five people, including three children, were killed and dozens injured, in a crash between a bus and two vehicles, in northern Israel yesterday, Israeli authorities said.
Israel’s Magen David Adom emergency health service, said in a statement that, some 47 schoolchildren in the bus were injured in the accident, near Hurfish, a town in northern Israel’s Galilee, adding that, three of the wounded sustained serious injuries.
A 35-year-old woman and three children in a taxi were killed, the police said. Israel’s Channel 12 TV news reported that, the four were family members.
The fifth fatality, a 45-year-old man, was found dead under the bus.
Police Commander of the Kinneret District, Avi Danieli, told reporters that, initial investigation indicates the bus was driving on a mountain road. For a yet unclear reason, the bus deviated from its route, hitting a commercial vehicle and then colliding with a private car.
The bus was carrying campers with Bnei Akiva, a religious Zionist youth movement, the group confirmed in its statement. The bus was taking the campers back home after a road trip, held during the recent Jewish holiday of Sukkot.– NNN-PNN
