PUL-E-KHUMRI, Sept 30 (NNN-ANA) – A surgeon and six members of his family were shot dead, in Afghanistan’s northern Baghlan province, last night, a local source confirmed today.
“Gunmen broke into the house of doctor Zainuddin Jarrah, a well-known surgeon, in the village of Deh-e Yak of Andarab district in Baghlan, roughly at 10:00 p.m. local time, killing him and six members of his family,” a member of the district council said.
He said, four members of the family were wounded by gun shoots and were shifted to a district hospital by neighbours.
“A burial ceremony was underway in Andarab today,” the source said, adding, women and children were among the victims.
The district has been the scene of clashes between Taliban members and anti-Taliban fighters in recent weeks.
“The deceased surgeon had provided medical treatment for the victims from both sides of the clashes in recent weeks,” the source said.
The district Taliban authorities told local villagers, an investigation has been initiated into the incident and the perpetrators would be brought to justice.– NNN-ANA
