Iran’s COVID-19 Death Toll Over 120,000

TEHRAN, Sept 30 (NNN-IRNA) – Iran’s overall COVID-19 death toll reached 120,160 yesterday, after 272 new deaths were registered in the past 24 hours, according to Iran’s Ministry of Health and Medical Education.

It also reported 13,271 new COVID-19 cases, taking the country’s total infections to 5,572,962.

A total of 5,009,673 people have recovered from the disease or been discharged from hospitals across the country, while 6,016 remain in intensive care units, the ministry said.

By yesterday, 37,748,710 people have received at least one dose of a vaccine in the country, while 16,060,951 have taken two doses.

Iran’s Health Minister, Bahram Eynollahi, praised the participation of volunteers in the vaccination process, stressing that, people have to continue respecting health protocols, such as wearing face masks and social distancing, the ministry’s website reported.

“By implementing smart quarantines, restrictions will be removed for vaccinated individuals, and these people will be able to use a vaccination card to access services, such as public transport and hotels,” Eynollahi said, in an official visit to Iran’s south-eastern city of Kerman.

With further progress of vaccination, more restrictions will be removed, he added.– NNN-IRNA
