Thailand Records 13,256 New COVID-19 Cases, 131 More Deaths

BANGKOK, Sept 24 (NNN-TNA) – Thailand yesterday reported 13,256 new COVID-19 cases, and 131 more deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA).

The spike in new cases is the highest over the past four days. Of the new infections, over 4,000 cases were detected in Bangkok and its neighbouring regions, according to the CCSA, the country’s COVID-19 task force.

The new cases took the country’s total number of infections to more than 1.52 million, while that of cumulative death toll since the pandemic began reached 15,884.

On Wednesday, 13,829 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals, after recovering from the virus, while 3,422 patients remained under critical condition.

The country administered more than 46.6 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine as of Wednesday, with 22.6 percent of the whole population having been fully vaccinated, according to the CCSA.

Thailand aims to inoculate 70 percent of its nearly 70 million population by the end of the year.– NNN-TNA
