VIENTIANE, Sept 15 (NNN-KPL) – Community cases of COVID-19 in southern Laos’ Champasak province continued to rise, with 104 new infections reported today.
As many as 5,233 tests were conducted over the past 24 hours, with 233 new cases of COVID-19 recorded, Deputy Director General of the Department of Communicable Diseases Control, under the Lao Ministry of Health, Sisavath Soutthaniraxay, told a press conference today.
Some 158 cases of community spread were confirmed, with 104 cases in Champasak, 17 in Khammuan, 12 in Luang Prabang, 11 in Savannakhet, six in Saravan, two each in Lao capital, Vientiane, Bokeo and Luang Namtha, one each in Sekong and Vientiane province.
Meanwhile, 65 imported cases were recorded across the country, with 27 in Savannakhet, 19 in Lao capital, Vientiane, nine in Champasak, four in Khammuan, three each in Saravan and Luang Prabang.
As of today, total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases reached 17,905, with 16 deaths.
A total of 13,655 COVID-19 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.
