Brunei Darussalam as the 2021 ASEAN Chair will host the virtual session, which will be presided by Minister of Energy, Dr Haji Mat Suny bin Haji Mohd Hussein, as the 39th AMEM Chair and Cambodian Minister of Mines and Energy, Suy Sem, as Vice-Chair.
The meeting is expected to see the virtual attendance of ASEAN member states (AMS), Dialogue Partners and International Organisations.

One of the key deliverables of the meeting would be the adoption of a joint declaration, referred to as ‘Bandar Seri Begawan Joint Declaration of The ASEAN Energy Ministers on Energy Security and Energy Transition.’
This joint declaration is also one of the five Brunei-led Initiatives, which will reflect a strong commitment and determination of the ASEAN energy ministers, in implementing the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) Blueprint 2025, through a bold and forward-looking approach that is responsive to the challenges of time, and strengthening cross-sectoral coordination within the AEC, and cross-pillar issues among the three pillars of the ASEAN Community.
In parallel, the annual ASEAN Energy Business Forum (AEBF) will also be held from Sept 14-16, which is co-hosted by the Ministry of Energy and the Petroleum Authority of Brunei Darussalam, and co-organised by the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) and DMG Events.
