MUMBAI, Sept 9 (NNN-PTI) – India’s largest car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki, reported a 7.9-percent decline in its Aug production, to 113,937 units, compared to 123,769 units, in the same month, last year.
Production volume of Aug was affected due to electronic components shortage, the company said, in its filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange yesterday.
Earlier, the Indian subsidiary of Japan’s Suzuki said that, it will see a 60-percent cut in production during Sept, due to shortage in supply of semi-conductors, which will be the second consecutive month of production cut, due to chip shortage.
Effective Monday this week, the company raised prices by 102-305 U.S. dollars, on its select models, to overcome the increase in various input costs.
Indian auto companies across the spectrum are holding production shut down in Sept, due to shortage of semi-conductors.
Earlier this month, Indian auto-maker, Mahindra and Mahindra said, it will observe “no production days” of around seven days, at its automotive plants, which is estimated to result in reduction in production volumes by 20-25 percent in Sept.– NNN-PTI
