19 Crew Members Test Positive For COVID-19 On Cargo Ship In San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept 1 (NNN-AGENCIES) – Nineteen of the 21 crew members aboard a cargo ship, anchored in San Francisco Bay, tested positive for COVID-19, and six have been transported to hospitals, according to a report by the San Francisco Chronicle yesterday.

A San Francisco Fire Department fireboat, transported six crew members of the Global Striker, to the University of California, San Francisco Medical Centre and California Pacific Medical Centre, on Monday afternoon, said Pantelis Vasilarakis, public information officer for the Coast Guard’s San Francisco division.

Details about the outbreak’s origin have not been confirmed. The crew’s vaccination statuses were also unknown, Vasilarakis said.

The vessel arrived in San Francisco Bay from the Port of Sacramento. Port officials said yesterday that, the vessel was anchored at Anchorage 9 in San Francisco.

None of the six patients were in critical condition, according to San Francisco fire officials.– NNN-AGENCIES
