Morocco Starts COVID-19 Vaccination For Teenagers Aged 12-17

RABAT, Sept 1 (NNN-MAP) – Morocco began yesterday, vaccinating teenagers aged between 12 and 17 years old, against COVID-19.

The Moroccan COVID-19 Scientific Committee, adopted Chinese Sinopharm and Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines for this campaign, as the two vaccines demonstrated effectiveness in this age group, a joint statement by the ministries of health and education said.

The vaccination operation is voluntary and subject to the agreement of parents, it said.

There are more than three million teenagers in this age group in Morocco, and 445 vaccination centres are opened as of yesterday in schools across the country.

Morocco is successfully conducting the vaccination campaign with more than 51 percent of its population over 12 years old fully vaccinated.

The North African country launched a nationwide vaccination campaign on Jan 28, after the arrival of the first shipment of China’s Sinopharm vaccine.– NNN-MAP
