Vietnam’s Daily COVID-19 Cases Reach New High, Total Deaths Over 10,000

HANOI, Aug 28 (NNN-VNA) – Vietnam reported a new high of 12,920 new COVID-19 cases yesterday, surpassing the previous record of 12,096 on Wednesday, according to the country’s Ministry of Health.

The new infections included 12,901 locally transmitted and 19 imported, the ministry said.

Most of the community cases were detected in southern localities, including 5,383 in the epicentre Ho Chi Minh City, 4,187 in nearby Binh Duong province, and 996 in Dong Nai province.

Yesterday, Binh Duong province registered another 4,508 COVID-19 infections, which were detected in previous days. The new cases altogether brought the country’s total tally to 410,366, with 10,053 deaths.

As many as 198,614 COVID-19 patients have so far recovered, up 10,126 from Thursday, while 18.8 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered nationwide, the ministry said.

As of yesterday, Vietnam registered a total of 406,233 locally transmitted COVID-19 cases, since the start of the current wave in late Apr, the ministry said.– NNN-VNA
