ISLAMABAD, Aug 27 (NNN-APP) – Pakistan reported 4,016 new COVID-19 cases over the last 24 hours, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), said today.
Amid the fourth wave of the pandemic, the overall tally of the infected people climbed to 1,144,341 across the country, the department leading the country’s campaign against the pandemic said.
Pakistan’s southern Sindh province has been the worst hit, with a total of 427,037 cases, followed by eastern Punjab province, where the virus was detected in 386,578 people.
A total of 25,415 people died of COVID-19 in Pakistan, including 95 patients who lost their lives to the pandemic over the last 24 hours, the NCOC said.
The country currently has 92,844 active cases, while 1,026,082 others have recovered.
The vaccination drive in the country has also picked up the pace, with some 39,249,475 partially vaccinated and 14,827,179 fully inoculated, according to the latest official data.– NNN-APP
