MEXICO CITY, March 13 (NNN-Prensa Latina) — The 22 passengers of a bus reported missing in Tamaulipas, Mexico, were escorted by Federal Police members, governor Francisco Javier Garcia Cabeza de Vaca said.

For this reason, federal authorities will carry out the investigation and clarify the whereabouts of the passengers, he said.

After the missing was reported, first 19 people and now 22, who were traveling from Tampico to Reynosa, in Tamaulipas, the state leader said they could be migrants already escorted by police officers, but so far, they do not have any report of missing or possible kidnapping.

Garcia Cabeza de Vaca stated he has already contacted Alfonso Durazo, Secretary of Public Security and Federal Citizen Protection, to whom he requested that the federal authorities conduct the investigations.

The General Prosecutor’s Office is confused because it has not been determined if the missing people are foreigners or Mexicans, because no criminal complaint for such missing has been reported.

The incident occurred on Thursday, March 7, at 12:55 local hour, at kilometer 79 of the San Fernando-Reynosa highway, at Palo Blanco Ejido, where apparently two trucks, with armed men, blocked the truck, forced the driver to stop to later take the 22 people. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
