HANOI, Aug 23 (NNN-VNA) – Vietnam reported 11,214 new COVID-19 infections yesterday, including 11,208 locally transmitted and six imported, according to the Ministry of Health.
Most of the community cases were detected in southern localities, including 4,193 in the epicentre, Ho Chi Minh City, 3,795 in the nearby Binh Duong province, and 849 in Dong Nai province.
Also yesterday, the southern Soc Trang province confirmed another 138 domestically transmitted cases, that were detected in previous days.
The new infections brought the total tally in the country to 348,059, with 8,277 deaths, the ministry said.
As many as 147,667 COVID-19 patients have so far recovered, up 7,580 from Saturday, while over 17 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered nationwide, according to the ministry.
As of yesterday, Vietnam has registered a total of 343,972 locally transmitted COVID-19 cases, since the start of the current wave in late Apr, the ministry said.– NNN-VNA
