Pakistan Reports 3,239 New COVID-19 Cases

ISLAMABAD, Aug 20 (NNN-APP) – Pakistan yesterday reported 3,239 new COVID-19 cases, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) said today.

The NCOC said that the country’s number of overall confirmed cases had risen to 1,116,886, and the number of patients who have recovered from COVID-19 exceeded one million.

According to the NCOC, the pandemic killed 70 people yesterday, bringing the overall death toll to 24,783.

The number of active cases is at 89,673, which is the highest since May 2, when the country recorded 89,661 active cases.

The daily positivity rate is 6.23 percent out of 51,982 tests conducted over the last 24 hours, said the NCOC.

Pakistan’s southern Sindh province is the most affected region in the country, with 417,439 infections, followed by eastern Punjab province which reported 377,208 cases.– NNN-APP
