Myanmar Reports 2,590 New COVID-19 Infections, 159 More Deaths

YANGON, Aug 20 (NNN-MNA) – Myanmar reported 2,590 new COVID-19 infections, with 159 more deaths in the past 24 hours, according to a release from the Ministry of Health, yesterday.

The release said that, the number of COVID-19 infections has risen to 365,759, while its death toll increased to 13,945, so far.

A total of 3,894 patients have been discharged from hospitals yesterday, bringing the number of recoveries to 286,775.

The ministry has imposed a stay-at-home order in 111 townships, so far, after the order was newly imposed in Keng Tung township of Shan state yesterday, in an effort to curb the chain of infections.

COVID-19 was first detected in Myanmar on Mar 23, last year.– NNN-MNA
