Brunei Records New Daily High Of COVID-19 Cases

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Aug 19 (NNN-ANN) – Brunei Darussalam yesterday recorded its highest number of COVID-19 infections in a single day with 94 new cases, including one new cluster and 30 cases of unknown sources of infection.

The country’s national tally of confirmed COVID-19 cases now stands at 946.

Minister of Health, Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar, provided details of the latest cases in the second wave of infection, at the daily press conference yesterday.

Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II, Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah also participated in the press conference.

The Minister of Health said, the additional cases to the current active clusters are 22 cases for Champion 7 and Related Vessels Cluster, 16 for the Chung Hua KB Cluster, eight for the BSP HQ Cluster (Block M), six for the Dragonboat Cluster, two for the ABCi Cluster, two for the Aker Cluster, two for the IBTE KB Cluster, one for the 477 Cluster, one for the Immigration Cluster; and one for the StarLodge Cluster.

The three new cases today are related to Case 674 reported on Aug 15. This cluster is known as the Lorong Tengah Cluster, he said.

The cases in the active clusters are individuals who are under quarantine and were found to be in contact with several confirmed cases. Contact tracing for the new cases are undergoing. All identified close contacts are required to undergo mandatory quarantine and the RT-PCR SARS-CoV-2 Virus test.– NNN-ANN
