JAKARTA, Aug 17 (NNN-ANTARA) – Four Javanese rhinoceros’ babies were born in the forest of Indonesia’s Ujung Kulon National Park, during the first half of this year, based on recorded video traps, the Environment and Forestry Ministry said yesterday.
The ministry’s Director General for Natural Resources and Ecosystems, Wiratno, said, two Javanese rhino babies were born in March, while the others in Apr and June, bringing their total population now to 75.
“Their births are good news at a time when the country is at war with the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Wiratno.
The first Javanese rhino calf born this year is a female, from a mother named Ambu, and the birth was recorded on a video on Mar 18, while the second rhino baby is a male from mother Palasara, and the delivery was recorded on Mar 27.
The third Javanese rhinoceros’ calf is a 3-month-old male, walking with its mother Rimbani, which was caught on video on Apr 12, and the fourth Javanese rhino baby is a female daughter of Kasih, which was recorded on June 9.– NNN-ANTARA
