The boat had 14 passengers on board
JALINGO (Taraba, Nigeria), Aug 11 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Five persons are feared drowned in Taraba State, Nigeria following a boat mishap.
The incident occurred when a boat carrying 14 passengers from Mayo-Reniwo village in Ardo-Kola Local Government Area to a village in Karim-Lamido Local Government capsized midway into the journey.
Taraba State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Abdulahi Usman, told newsmen in Jalingo that the boat was carrying 14 passengers when it capsized.
According to him, nine of the passengers were rescued, while five other passengers were missing and feared to have drowned.
Usman said a search operation was ongoing for the five victims. — NNN-AGENCIES
