TEHRAN, Aug 7 (NNN-IRNA) – The Iranian health ministry reported yesterday, 34,913 new COVID-19 cases, taking the country’s total infections to 4,092,671.
The pandemic has so far claimed 93,086 lives in Iran, up by 458 in the past 24 hours, the Iranian Ministry of Health and Medical Education said in a briefing, published on the ministry’s official website.
A total of 3,492,468 people have recovered from the disease or been discharged from hospitals across the country, while 6,279 remain in intensive care units, the ministry said. By yesterday, 11,765,528 people have received at least a dose of the vaccines, in the country, while 2,970,669 have taken two doses.
The health authorities re-imposed restrictions amidst the spread of the Delta variant, as the number of infections has been in alarming point, in most parts of the country. They are also considering a two-week strict lockdown to counter the resurgence.
