Peru President: Cabinet to include more women in the future

LIMA, March 11 (NNN-ANDINA) — President Martin Vizcarra announced that more women would be part of the Peruvian Ministerial Cabinet until gender equality has been achieved.

He said that currently five women work as Ministers of Environment, Women, Health, Labor, as well as Development and Social Inclusion.
“(…) and there should be more, and there will be more,” he added.

Likewise, he lamented the most important posts in the country are held by men.

Furthermore, the statesman indicated that if the Government shows clear signs of the path gender equality should take, and society undertakes efforts and changes its way of thinking, a deep revolution will be accomplished.

“Then we will celebrate March 8th (International Women’s Day) with pleasure,” he said.

Vizcarra also pointed out violence against women is the enemy of development.

“We must eradicate it together,” he added.

Moreover, the Head of State hopes to see a real revolution in the 21st century, “one that helps us find justice and equality between men and women.” — NNN-ANDINA
