SINGAPORE, Aug 3 (NNN-Bernama) — A 34 year-old man from Ukraine had passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection on Aug 1, taking the total fatality to 38 for the republic.
Imported Case 67264, a sea crew had arrived in Singapore on board a vessel on July 29, said the Ministry of Health in its full data released late Monday night.
The ministry said he had developed a fever, cough and lethargy on July 25, and subsequently suffered from breathlessness on July 31.
“He was conveyed from the vessel to Singapore General Hospital on Aug 1, and was confirmed to have COVID-19 infection on the same day,” it said.
The last fatality before this was reported on July 24, involving an 83 year-old female Singaporean.
As at noon Aug 2, the total caseload in the republic stood at 65,213.
A total of 602 cases are being currently warded in hospital with most being well and under observation.
There are currently 36 cases of serious illness requiring oxygen supplementation, and seven in critical condition in the intensive care unit (ICU).
Singapore reported 10 new clusters on Monday bringing the total to 93 active clusters, with each ranging between three and 1,072 infections.
As of Sunday (Aug 1), 62 per cent of Singapore’s population has completed their full regimen or received two doses of COVID-19 vaccines under the national vaccination programme, and 77 per cent has received at least one dose.
