Permit, Two-Dose COVID Vaccination Needed Before Entering Brunei

KUCHING (Sarawak, Malaysia) July 29 (NNN-Bernama) — All foreign transporters including those from Sarawak are now required to get, among others, a cross-country permit and two doses of COVID-19 vaccine before they are allowed to enter Brunei.

Sarawak Transport Minister Lee Kim Shin said these new rules were conveyed to his ministry by the Brunei Consulate General, here, recently.

“The transporters are also required to have negative COVID-19 PCR test result which is valid for two weeks before they are allowed to enter Brunei.

“A negative COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Test result for every single entry into Brunei is also needed.

“As confirmed by the Consulate General of Brunei in Kuching, a COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Test will be administered to the transporters free of charge at the land border of Brunei by the staff from its Ministry of Health,” he said in a statement today.

According to Lee, all registered transporters and other essential travellers from Sarawak must take note that they will be denied entry into Brunei should they have a positive Antigen Rapid Test result on the day of entry.

“We trust that this notification will prepare our registered transporters and other essential travellers on the new compliance imposed by the Ministry of Health, Brunei to protect the lives and livelihood of all parties involved,” he said.
