5.6-Magnitude Quake Hits Central Indonesia

JAKARTA, Jul 25 (NNN-ANTARA) – An earthquake measuring 5.6-magnitude, jolted North Sulawesi province, in the central part of Indonesia, last night, according to the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency.

The quake hit at 8:07 p.m. Jakarta time (1307 GMT), with the epicentre at 121 km south-west of Melonguane, the capital city of Kepulauan Talaud district, and the shallow at 10 km under the seabed, Rudi Teguh, an official of the agency, said.

The jolt did not trigger tsunami waves, he said.– NNN-ANTARA
