11 More U.S. Soldiers, One More Civilian In S.Korea Test Positive For COVID-19

SEOUL, Jul 23 (NNN-YONHAP) – Eleven more U.S. soldiers and one relevant civilian in South Korea, tested positive for COVID-19, the U.S. Forces Korea (USFK) said today.

The USFK said in a statement that, 12 USFK-affiliated individuals were confirmed with the COVID-19, between Jul 20 and 21.

Three service members at Camp Casey, one service member at Camp Carroll, and one service member at the U.S. Army Garrison Humphreys, tested positive on Jul 20 and 21, after developing symptoms.

Five service members at Camp Casey, one service member at Osan Air Base, and one family member of a U.S. Department of Defence (DOD) civilian at K-16, tested positive on Jul 20 and 21, during a contact-tracing process.

The confirmed patients have been transferred to designated isolation facilities, at the U.S. army bases here.

The total number of infections among the USFK-affiliated personnel rose to 1,119.

The surge in confirmed cases among U.S. troops came, amid the COVID-19 resurgence here.

In the latest tally, South Korea reported 1,630 more cases of COVID-19, for the past 24 hours, lifting the total number of infections to 185,733. The daily caseload hovered above 1,000 for the 17th consecutive day.– NNN-YONHAP
