5.1-Magnitude Quake Strikes Off Japan’s Yamaguchi Prefecture: JMA

TOKYO, Jul 18 (NNN-NHK) – An earthquake, with a magnitude of 5.1, yesterday, struck off Japan’s Yamaguchi Prefecture, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).

The temblor occurred at around 8:50 p.m. local time, with its epicentre at a latitude of 33.6 degrees north, and a longitude of 131.9 degrees east, and at a depth of 80 km.

The quake logged 4 in some parts of Yamaguchi Prefecture, on the Japanese seismic intensity scale, which peaks at 7.

So far no tsunami warning has been issued.– NNN-NHK
