UAE Inaugurates Embassy In Tel Aviv After Normalisation Deal

JERUSALEM, Jul 15 (NNN-WAM) – The United Arab Emirates opened an embassy in Israeli’s financial capital, Tel Aviv yesterday, less than a year after the two countries normalised ties.

The venue is located in Israel’s new stock exchange building, in downtown Tel Aviv.

At the opening ceremony, new Israeli President, Isaac Herzog, hailed the move as “an important milestone in our shared journey towards a future of peace, prosperity and security in the Middle East.”

Herzog said, Israel wishes that the “historic agreement” with the UAE would be “extended to other nations seeking peace with it.”

The UAE’s Ambassador to Israel, Mohamed Al Khaja, said, the inauguration is “an important milestone in the growing relationship between our two countries.”

“UAE and Israel are innovative nations. We can harness this creativity to work towards a more prosperous and sustainable future for our countries and the region,” he said.

The move came, after Israel opened its embassy in Abu Dhabi, during a visit by Israeli Foreign Minister, Yair Lapid, in Jun. It was the first visit by a senior Israeli diplomat to the UAE.

Israel and the UAE signed a U.S.-brokered normalisation deal in Sept, 2020. The UAE is one of four Muslim-majority countries that agreed to normalise ties with Israel last year. The other three are Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco.– NNN-WAM
