DUBLIN, Jul 14 (NNN-XINHUA) – Ireland’s new car sales in Jun surpassed pre-pandemic levels for the first time this year, said the country’s Central Statistics Office (CSO) yesterday.
In Jun, 2021, Ireland sold 4,980 new private cars, 1,122 units more than it sold in Jun, 2019, said the CSO in a transport bulletin.
But the total number of new private cars sold in the country, in the first half of this year is still 22.9 percent lower than in 2019, it said.
A total of 59,823 new private cars were sold in Ireland, in the first half of this year, which represented a 21.6-percent increase over a year ago.
Statistics from the CSO also showed that, a total of 39,962 used private cars were sold in Ireland, in the first half of this year, up 50.3 percent year-on-year, but still 22.7 percent lower when compared to 2019.– NNN-XINHUA
