S. Korea’s Daily COVID-19 Cases Break Record For Three Straight Days

SEOUL, Jul 10 (NNN-YONHAP) – South Korea’s daily COVID-19 cases, broke record for three straight days, due to resurgence in the Seoul metropolitan area, the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) said today.

The country reported 1,378 more cases of COVID-19 as of midnight, compared to 24 hours ago, raising the total number of infections to 166,722.

It was slightly up from the previous high of 1,316 tallied in the day before, continuing to break records for the third consecutive day.

The daily confirmed cases hovered above 1,200 for four straight days. The daily average caseload for the past week was 1,054.

Of the new cases, 501 were Seoul residents and 441 were people residing in Gyeonggi province.

Fifty-eight cases were imported from overseas, lifting the combined figure to 10,507.

Two more deaths were confirmed, bringing the death toll to 2,038. The total fatality rate stood at 1.22 percent.

A total of 655 more patients were discharged from quarantine, after making full recovery, pulling up the combined number to 153,153. The total recovery rate was 91.86 percent.

The country tested over 10.88 million people, among whom 10,545,199 tested negative for the virus and 169,719 are being checked.

Since the mass vaccination was launched on Feb 26, the country has administered COVID-19 vaccines to a total of 15,573,316 people, with 5,801,997 fully vaccinated.– NNN-YONHAP
