Fire Breaks Out In Container At Dubai’s Port

DUBAI, Jul 8 (NNN-WAM) – A fire broke out in a container on a ship, anchored at Dubai’s Jebel Ali Port, the United Arab Emirates, last night.

A civil defence team was trying to put out the blaze, and later managed to bring the fire under control, while no casualties have been reported, the Dubai Media Office said, in a statement.

“We are taking all necessary measures, to ensure that normal movement of ships at the port continues without any disruption,” the Jebel Ali Port authorities said.

“Friction or high temperatures” may have caused the fire, the Al Arabiya television cited the Dubai police as saying.

The Jebel Ali Port, located some 35 km south-west of Dubai, in the Persian Gulf, is one of the largest and busiest harbours in the Middle east and the Gulf.– NNN-WAM
