DHAKA, Jul 1 (NNN-BSS) – Bangladesh reported 8,822 new COVID-19 cases yesterday, the highest single-day count so far, bringing the tally to 913,258, said the country’s Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Meanwhile, 115 more deaths were recorded, raising the death toll to 14,503.
A total of 35,105 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, as of 8:00 a.m. local time yesterday, across the country.
The total number of recovered patients in the country stood at 816,250, including 4,550 new recoveries yesterday, said the DGHS.
According to the official data, the fatality rate in Bangladesh is now 1.59 percent and the current recovery rate fell to 89.38 percent.
The daily cases have been rising again since the beginning of this month.
To curb the virus transmission, the Bangladeshi government announced the imposition of a one-week strict lockdown from today.– NNN-BSS
