BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Jul 1 (NNN-ANN) – Brunei’s overall Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Apr, 2021, increased by 1.1 percent year-on-year, according to the latest figures released yesterday.
According to the country’s Department of Economic Planning and Statistics, at the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the CPI rise was contributed mainly by increases in the prices and costs of transport (7.2 percent); food and non-alcoholic beverages (1.5 percent); and communication (1.8 percent).
Meanwhile, on a monthly basis, the Apr, 2021 CPI recorded a decrease of 0.5 percent compared to Mar, 2021.
CPI is a measure of price changes of goods and services, paid by the consumer in a specified period. Brunei’s list of goods and services in the CPI is based on the average expenditure per household.– NNN-ANN
