Israel authorises resumption of fuel delivery to Gaza
The UN Security Council on Saturday called for

JERUSALEM, June 29 (NNN-AGENCIES) –Israel starting Monday resumed fuel deliveries to the Palestinian enclave of Gaza for energy production, a measure aimed at easing restrictions imposed during the recent conflict with the Hamas.

From Monday, Israel will allow “the transfer of fuel to the Gaza Strip power station through the Kerem Shalom terminal”, the only transit point for goods between the blocked Palestinian territory and the Jewish state, indicates a declaration. Israel tightened restrictions during its 11-day conflict with Hamas last May.

Last week, Hamas, in power in Gaza, denounced Israel’s “delay policy” in resolving the humanitarian crisis in the Palestinian enclave, home to some two million Palestinians and which has been under Israeli blockade for nearly 15 years.

In the same period, Tel Aviv lifted restrictions on courier services to Palestinian territory and allowed some agricultural and clothing exports to resume.

The Hebrew state also expanded the fishing zone granted to Gaza fishermen from six to nine nautical miles and allowed the importation of raw materials for “civil factories” of essential goods.

The series of measures began after the entry into force of a ceasefire agreement on May 21, which ended the deadliest conflict between Israel and Hamas since 2014.

Between May 10 and 21, 260 Palestinians were killed by Israeli attacks in Gaza, including fighters, according to local authorities.

In Israel, rockets launched from Palestinian territory killed 13 people, including a soldier, according to Israeli police and army.

The ceasefire has largely remained, although in early June Palestinian militants launched incendiary balloons, which set off fires in Israel, to which the Hebrew state responded with air strikes. — NNN-AGENCIES
