ISLAMABAD, Jun 28 (NNN-APP) – Pakistan reported less than 1,000 new COVID-19 cases over the last 24 hours, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) said today.
The NCOC, the department leading Pakistan’s campaign against the pandemic, said, 914 new cases were reported, and the number of overall cases climbed to 955,657, adding that, there have been 901,201 people who recovered from COVID-19, so far.
According to the NCOC, a total of 20 people also lost their lives to the disease, over the last 24 hours, raising the overall death toll to 22,231.
Pakistan’s eastern Punjab province is the worst-hit region with 345,900 infections, followed by the southern Sindh province, which reported 336,076 infections.
The NCOC said, 2,815,454 people have been fully vaccinated in the country, so far, whereas 11,978,339 are vaccinated partially, as the vaccination campaign is in full swing in the country.
Asad Umar, chairman of NCOC, recently warned, the country might be hit by a fourth COVID-19 wave in July, if the standard operating procedures (SOPs) were not followed.
“In the absence of strong SOPs enforcement, and continued strong vaccination programme, the fourth wave could emerge in Pakistan in July. Please adhere to SOPs and vaccinate as soon as possible,” the chairman said.– NNN-APP
