New Zealand Reports Four New Cases Of COVID-19

WELLINGTON, Jun 26 (NNN-AGENCIES) – New Zealand reported four new cases of COVID-19, the Ministry of Health said in a statement today.

The four new cases were recent returnees in managed isolation facilities, while there was no new case in the wider New Zealand community, said the ministry.

The number of active cases in New Zealand was 21, and the total number of confirmed cases reached 2,373, the statement said.

The total number of tests processed by New Zealand laboratories to date reached 2,261,870, said the ministry.

The ministry confirmed the whole genome sequencing of the Australian tourist, who visited Wellington on Jun 19-21, was the Delta variant.

Wellington moved from COVID-19 Alert Level one up to Level two, after the tourist tested COVID-19 positive on Wednesday.

Director of Public Health, Caroline McElnay, from the Ministry of Health, urged the public to stay vigilant and keep on contact tracing.

“It’s incredibly important, people keep up to date with the ministry’s locations of interest in Wellington, and if you’ve been at one, to continue to isolate either for the full 14 days and get at least two negative test results, or to isolate until a negative day five test,” said McElnay.– NNN-AGENCIES
