KANDAHAR, Jun 23 (NNN-AGENCIES) – Five people have been killed and 18 others injured, as a passenger bus ran over a land mine, in the restive Miwand district of Afghanistan’s southern Kandahar province, last night, provincial police spokesman, Jamal Barikzai, said today.
“A mine planted by militants on a road in Miwand district struck a passenger bus, late last night, killing five commuters, including women and children, and injuring 18 others,” Barikzai, said.
The official said, investigations are underway.
Miwand district has been the scene of fierce fighting between government forces and Taliban militants, over the past couple of weeks.– NNN-AGENCIES
