SINGAPORE, Jun 11 (NNN-CNA) – Singapore’s Ministry of Health reported 13 new COVID-19 cases yesterday, bringing the total tally to 62,236.
Four new cases are reported from the community, with two of them linked to previous cases. One has already been placed on quarantine, and one was detected through surveillance.
Nine are imported cases, who have already been placed on Stay-Home Notice (SHN), upon arrival in Singapore.
Overall, the number of new cases in the community decreased from 147 cases in the week before, to 40 cases in the past week. The number of unlinked cases in the community has also decreased from 26 cases in the week before, to seven cases in the past week.
Yesterday, 25 more cases have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities. In all, 61,765 have fully recovered and been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities.
There are currently 150 confirmed cases who are still in hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and one is in critical condition in the intensive care unit.
Meanwhile, 287 people are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well, but still test positive for COVID-19.
A total of 34 people have passed away in the country from the pandemic, showed official data.
In addition, the Multi-Ministry Taskforce (MTF) earlier announced that the tightened community measures under Phase 2 (Heightened Alert) would be in place until Jun 13. As part of a calibrated reopening, from Jun 14, Singapore will move back to Phase 3 (Heightened Alert) in two steps, with one set of measures taking effect from Jun 14, and another from Jun 21.
Meanwhile, the Health Sciences Authority (HSA), announced to extend the vaccination programme to citizens aged 12 to 39 years and recommend individuals, who have had an earlier COVID-19 infection, and have recovered, to receive a single dose of vaccine, as there is evidence indicating that a single dose would further boost immunity against COVID-19.– NNN-CNA
