ANKARA, March 7, 2019 (NNN-ANADALU) -Turkey has concluded agreements regarding its purchase of Russian S-400 missile systems, the Turkish president said on Wednesday.

Speaking in a televised interview, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Ankara and Moscow have finalized the agreement on Turkey buying the S-400 missile system.

Turkish president’s comments come amid US suggestions Ankara should reconsider buying Russian missile defense system

“We concluded the S-400 issue, signed a deal with the Russians, and will start co-production. Later, we may work with S-500s,” the next generation system, Erdogan said.

U.S. officials have suggested that Turkey should buy U.S. Patriot missiles rather than the Russian system, arguing the S-400 is incompatible with NATO systems, but Turkish officials have said the purchase from Russia is decided, even if Turkey were to also buy Patriots.
